I grew up in a small village in the West of Austria, surrounded by mountains, spruce & fir, ash, beech & hazel trees. Gurgling of the Rhine river in my ears. My Mama's hands sewing summer dresses for her daughters or kneading dough. The kitchen hot & sweet, drawing everyone closer.

Moving to Colorado as a young Mom, my heart yearned for all those I've left behind and I began to bake Austrian pastries week after week, year after year, charming new friends. Slowly I was known by this land, tended to for a long time by many indigenous peoples. As an herbalist I fell in love with ponderosa pine, chokecherry & gumweed and many plants I was already familiar with. My own roots began to grow deeper & wider and I try to move gently.

Growing up in Colorado, my connection to Austria came alive during our family visits. I remember walking into small village bakeries with my Oma, the sweet aroma of fresh Kipferl and warm bread filling the air. Those morning visits became sacred rituals - watching the early sun touch the Alps while sharing a perfectly flaky Nussschnecke or Topfentascherl.

These memories of sharing pastries with family in Austria, along with my mom's baking at home in Colorado, shaped my deep appreciation for Austrian baking traditions. Now, working together in our bakery, we're creating new memories while keeping these cherished traditions alive in our community.
